Anastasiades to have contacts with parties

25/02/2013 12:58
New President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades might have contacts with the leaders of EDEK and the Ecologists today and tomorrow in an effort the new members of the country’s governance to be subject to greater acceptance.

This is what DIKO President, Marios Garoyian said speaking at the journalists shortly after his one-hour meeting with Mr. Anastasiades.

Earlier, entering the headquarters of the Democratic Rally and asked whether the names for the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs have been locked and if there is any issue on irresolution, Mr. Garoyian noted that there is no irresolution since now he will exchange views with President.

At a reporter's question about the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs, he said he discussed the whole issue yesterday with Mr. Anastasiades, explaining that the two Ministries were given a priority because the economy is linked with contacts abroad.

He said they are two Ministries for which there is not much time.

Asked whether the proportion - ie how many ministries each party will take – has been determined, he responded negatively.

Invited to comment whether DISY submitted proposals with names that may be appointed, Mr. Garoyian was negative again and merely indicated that they will exchange proposals.

He noted that he was not asked of the names of persons that will become Ministers by Mr. Anastasiades either.

On his way out from the DISY offices, MEP Ioannis Cassoulides was asked whether he will take over the Foreign Ministry.

Mr. Cassoulides said that these issues are the responsibility of the President and any announcements will be made by him or his representative.

Tasos Mitsopoulos and Ionas Nicolaou avoided stating whether they were proposed to take over a Ministry.
