27/03/2013 15:22
So far I have not received an official letter of the Central Bank Governor, Panicos Demetriades for my resignation from my position as CEO in Bank of Cyprus, Yiannis Kypri stated in a written statement.

Mr. Kypri said this morning he was called by the CB Governor at his office where he was asked verbally to submit his resignation from the position of CEO. At the same time he was informed about the decision to remove the members of the Board of the bank.

“The reason I was given is that based on the consolidation decree recently passed by the legislature and after troika’s demand, BOCY has appointed an administrator. “The administrator assumes the completion of the activities during the transition period of absorption of the good Cyprus Popular Bank by Bank of Cyprus”.

"Until this moment I have not received the official letter from the Governor”, he said.

"These times are very difficult for everyone. Bank of Cyprus was and should remain the mainstay of the economy and society in the effort to address the crisis. I hope that the handlings in this transitional period will be respected the employees, shareholders and customers of Bank of Cyprus ", he concluded.
