The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) that represents the industry has asked Greece to push back to 2026 a plan to hike fees for passengers disembarking on Mykonos and Santorini to 20 euros ($22.34) and 5 euros ($5.59) for other ports.
The government said it was necessary to deal with crushing amounts of passengers landing on the two popular islands and straining their infrastructure, as many as 17,000 a day this summer on Santorini that’s been overwhelmed.
