Greece will tighten screws on high bank fees, money transfers too

20/12/2024 06:23

After Greece’s banks – which  had been bailed out during a financial crisis – failed to heed warnings to reduce high fees while offering low interest on deposits, the government has moved to control them.

Bank fees will be ended as will charges for some retail transactions as part of measures to help households cope with a cost-of-living crisis, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, reported Reuters.
