PwC Cyprus’ trainees achieved a set of outstanding results in the recent examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) that took place in December 2013. PwC’s trainees not only achieved near perfect pass rates well above the international pass rates, but also won 5 international prizes.
Nicoletta Neophytou, achieved fifth Place and the Cassleton Elliott prize while Christiana Panteli achieved eighth place in the 2013 Professional Annual International Order of Merit. In addition, Chrysanthos Papachrysanthou, Athina Germanou and Eleni Georgiou achieved joint first place and the Watts prize in the Audit and Assurance paper.
Evgenios Evgeniou, CEO of PwC Cyprus and Philippos Soseilos, Head of Human Capital, congratulated the five trainees during a ceremony organised to honour their accomplishments.
During the ceremony, Mr Soseilos praised their performance and noted that “The biggest strength of our country is the quality of its people. In PwC, we make significant investments in attracting talented university graduates and building their capabilities for the future. We are proud of our people who, through their commitment and hard work, contribute towards our efforts of maintaining a strong professional services sector that will help Cyprus’ long-term economic recovery”.
It is worth noting PwC Cyprus trainees’ outstanding history in the ICAEW examinations, as 19 trainee accountants of PwC Cyprus have won 27 prizes since 1999. Part of this success is attributed to PwC’s Academy, which significantly contributes through the quality of tutoring and support it provides the trainees.
