Greek workers, among the lowest paid and most heavily taxed in the European Union, staged a 24-hour strike on November 20 to protest the rising cost of living and the absence of collective bargaining rights.
The strike increased pressure on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government. After focusing his first term on attracting foreign investors and tourists, Mitsotakis has pledged to use his second term, which began in 2023, to support households and the most vulnerable.
