Visas: Radical solutions for Russian tourists

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Nikos Rolandes – after the meeting he had with tourist agents in Moscow – stated to the Russian media that the Cypriot government aims to obtain – within 24 hours for the residents of Moscow and 72 hours for the rest – visas for all Russian visitors in Cyprus. In addition, Mr. Rolandes stated that the government seeks to obtain visas for all Russian businessmen who have expanded (or will expand) their business in Cyprus.

Mr. Rolandes also mentioned that Cyprus examines the possibility to connect electronically travel agencies in Russia with the Cypriot Embassy in Moscow, as this will enable a direct and fast visa issuing.

The Minister pointed out that Government is determined to take all proper measures in order to increase and facilitate tourist exchanges between the two countries.

Finally, Mr. Rolandes stressed that Cyprus will not allow any further delays or other bureaucratic formalities as far as this issue is concerned and insisted that Cyprus will be consistent to its duties against EU.
