The reconstruction of Vassiliko power station will be completed in late August, with the reopening of Thermal Power Unit No.2, as stated in today’s press release of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus.

The progress of the restoration works of the Power Station was witnessed by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Giorgos Lakkotrypis, who visited the station yesterday, on the occasion of the reopening of Power Units No. 1 and No. 3, after the destruction of 11 July 2011.

According to EAC’s press release, the Minister expressed content for the progress of the restoration activities.

Chairman of the Board of EAC, Haralambos Tsouris, Director General of EAC Stelios Stylianou and other managers of the Authority informed the Minister about the huge and ambitious project of the restoration of the station, the action taken so far and the plans of the Authority for the full repair and reopening of Vassiliko.

The Director General of EAC reported that in order Vassiliko to reopen, the largest Work Group was introduced, which undertook the speedy processing of more than 400 individual projects, observing all legal procedures in the most economical and technically correct manner.
