The Board of the University of Cyprus “strongly objects to the amendments of the 2013 budget, which were voted by the House of Representatives”, an announcement said.

"These amendments are a scorn of our university and its work and indicate a lack of confidence in the bodies which undertake all academic, administrative, managerial and financial issues of the University of Cyprus" is added.

"We reject the effort to demerit the university as a public institution and particularly and we note that the abolition of academic promotions tarnishes the academic institutions and is an unprecedented phenomenon worldwide," says Board of the University of Cyprus.

The University of Cyprus, according to the statement, "remains proud of its academic work, particularly on the level of the academic staff, of receiving international awards in recognition of its value for the high quality of education it provides and of its success in attracting external research programs”.

“The accomplishments are not dismayed by the amendments have been approved”, it said and asked by the Education Committee of the House to cancel the abolition of promotions and to release all funds to the benefit of the educational, research and social work performed by the University of Cyprus”.
