Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras said that the agreement reached is a difficult one, stressing that a tough battle was given during the past six months to reach an agreement so that the country and the Greek people are able to stand on their feet.

“We came across difficult decisions and tough dilemmas” he said adding that “we took responsibility of the decision in order to prevent the most radical aspirations of the most radical conservative circles in the EU”.

We managed to prevent the transfer of public wealth outside the country, the liquidity asphyxiation and the collapse of the financial system that was perfectly planned lately and begun to be implemented” he said adding that the agreement keeps Greece in financial stability but its implementation will be hard.

“We managed to win the restructuring of the public debt and medium term funding” he said.
"The measures are recessionary, but we hope that putting Grexit to bed, means inward investment can begin to flow, negating them” Tsipras noted.

His key message is that he has battled hard for Greece, getting commitments on debt restructuring while he also pledged to implement radical reforms to ensure the Greek oligarchy finally makes a fair contribution.

He said that everyone knew it would not be easy, adding that "we have left an important legacy behind for a necessary change throughout Europe."
