Greece continues to be the most popular destination for Cypriot travelers in 2006. According to CYSTAT data released recently, Cypriots’ trips to Greece in November 2006 recorded an increase of 19.6% or 4 thousand to 24.3 thousand against 20.4 thousand last year, followed by the trips to the UK, which surged 36.2% or 3.1 thousand to 11.5 thousand compared to 8.4 thousand in November 2005.
On the other hand, trips to Lebanon, Syria and Egypt dropped 59.4% (or 1.3 thousand), 38.2% (876) and 2.3% respectively.
Total trips in the same month surged 8.5% to 57.6 thousand against 53.1 thousand in 2005.
In January-November 2006, Cypriots’ trips abroad inched up 0.6% to 855.158 against 850.176 in the corresponding period of 2005.
