According to the Passengers Survey released recently, 98.527 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in October 2008 compared to 97.131 in the corresponding month last year recording an increase of 1,4%.
The trips to Greece fell 8.7% or 3.2 thousand to 33.6 thousand, while those to Egypt dropped by 1.4 thousand. Trips Russia fell slightly too.
On the other hand, trips to the United Kingdom, Israel, Lebanon and Syria recorded a slight increase.
63.1% of the trips were for leisure, 28.8% for professional reasons and 3.9% for educational purposes. 51.4% of the passengers were women and 48.6% men.
In January – October 2008, the Cypriots’ trips abroad surged 13.3% to 1,048,276 from 925,223 last year.
