According to data compiled by CYSTAT, imports in Cyprus rose in the first four months of 2002, while a slight drop of exports was recorded.

Total imports totaled 814,8 million pounds as compared with 789,1 million pounds in the first four months of 2001, while total exports amounted to 178,1 million pounds compared to 194,6 million pounds during the period January-April 2001.

The trade deficit accounted for 636,7 million pounds compared to 603,5 million pounds in the corresponding period of 2001, an increase of 5.5%.
