According to the preliminary results of the Travelers’ Research, tourist arrivals for January 2003 increased by 9.3%, as the total number of tourists that visited Cyprus amounted to 59,085 compared to 54,067 in the corresponding month of 2001.
The United Kingdom once again ranked first, as 34,826 British tourists visited the island for January 2003 against 30,458 in 2002 (+14.3%). Its is worth mentioning that tourist arrivals from neighbouring Greece increased by 41.5%, with a total number of Greek tourists visiting Cyprus reaching 5,352 against 3,783 in January 2002.
On the other hand, tourist arrivals from Germany and Russia fell by 5.2% and 18.8%, reaching 5,321 and 2,184 against 5,610 and 2,688 in 2002 respectively.
