The ‘so-called’ T/C “Minister of Tourism”, Kemal Deniz stated to the T/C press on Tuesday that tourism in the occupied territories will make a significant progress in 2009. According to Mr. Deniz, although Turkey is making huge efforts for the opposite, the fact that there are no direct flights to the occupied north affects negatively the tourist arrivals.
Responding to the pessimistic comments on the course of tourism in 2006, Mr. Deniz said that the worst scenario would be that tourist arrivals remain the same as in 2005 and expressed his optimism that tourism will increase in 2007.
