Hoteliers’ Association, PASYXE, Chairman, Haris Loizides said on Tuesday that 2004 will be a “tough year” for tourism. Speaking after the meeting with EDEK Chairman, Yiannakis Omirou, during which the two parties reviewed the prospects of the tourist industry, Mr. Loizides said that indications so far show that “2004 will be a tough year for tourism and a lot of effort will be needed for the recovery of the tourist arrivals to Cyprus”.

Mr. Loizides reminded that 2003 was the second consecutive year of “downward trends” and stressed the need to adopt “some aspects of the Strategic Plan”.

Mr. Omirou, on the other hand, noted that there is a need to enforce the National Strategic Plan and take a number of measures that must be supported by all sides.
