Total sales of petroleum products were down in January on an annual basis, but petrol station sales were up, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service on Tuesday show.
In particular, according to CyStat in January 2024, the total sales of petroleum products amounted to 109,710 tonnes, recording a decrease of 0.9% compared to January 2023.
A decrease was observed in the provisions of marine gasoil (11.0%) and in the sales of light fuel oil (19.3%), asphalt (18.0%), kerosene (8.0%), heating gasoil (1.5%) and liquefied petroleum gases (-1.5%).
On the contrary, CyStat added, a rise was recorded in the provisions of aviation kerosene (7.3%), as well as in the sales of road diesel (5.5%) and motor gasoline (3.9%).
Sales from petrol stations "registered a rise of 3.4% to 54,635 tonnes," CyStat said.
The total sales of petroleum products in January 2024 compared to December 2023 recorded a drop of 8.5%. Indicatively, a drop was recorded in the provisions of marine gasoil and aviation kerosene (26.0% and 5.3%, respectively) as well as in the sales of motor gasoline (7.9%) and road diesel (6.4%).
The total stocks of petroleum products at the end of January 2024 rose by 12.2% compared to the end of the previous month.
