There were no complaints of violation of the directive on workers' thermal stress prevention, while the inspections will continue on Monday, Inspection Officer of the Labour Inspection Department, Nicos Nicolaou, told CNA.

The Department of Meteorology issued a warning for extreme high temperatures for Monday. The amber warning will be valid between 11:00-18:00 and maximum temperatures are expected around 44 degrees Celsius over inland areas and around 35 degrees over the higher mountainous areas.

Consequently, the Department of Labour Inspection, of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, is urging employers and self-employed individuals to suspend outdoor heavy and moderate work activity from midday until 4pm.

Nicolaou noted that inspections carried out yesterday concluded that the necessary measures are being followed. The Department will continue inspections on Monday as well.

Regarding food deliveries, he noted that the relevant online platforms have cooperated very well with the Labour Inspection Department.

Regarding incidents that came to light on Sunday about deliverymen operating during the prohibited hours, he noted that it does not necessarily mean that they are working, since, as he explained, there are many self-employed people who might be using their personal motorbike, that has a label of the delivery company, for personal reasons during these hours.
