Terminal problems are small, Transport Min says

Transport Minister, Nicos Nicolaides visited the new Larnaca International Airport today on the occasion of the first month of operation of the new airport terminal.
According to the CNA, in his statements the Minister said that the first month is the most critical and many airports across Europe had to deal with problems in this first month.
“The main aim of today’s meeting with the administrator of the new terminal and the Civil Aviation Department as well as other interested parties and private services is to find the problems that emerged during the month”, the Minister said.
Mr. Nicolaides said that there were no significant problems during the first month of operation.
“The operation of the new terminal has been successful and we must say so as the transition from the old to the new airport is a difficult task. There were no problems affecting the flow of air traffic,`` noting that any problems that emerged were dealt with immediately and efficiently”, he stated.
He also said that the cooperation with all parties involved will continue, as well as the supervision will. “This airport is important for Cyprus and will safeguard it and we will continue are efforts for further improvement”, he said
Referring to the future of the old terminal, the Minister said that there are some thoughts and recommendations by the Administrator, as part of his contract.
“We are assessing these ideas which affect both the old airport as well as the surrounding area of the new airport to find the best possible solutions which would further improve the new airport”, the Minister concluded.
