The Greek Cypriots use the financial troubles in the north to “create the impression that political morale has collapsed and that the Turkish Cypriots want an agreement at all costs,” warned the Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktas, after a meeting with the Association of Bank Depositors and Bank Victims” of the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. According to the Turkish Cypriot Radio Bayrak, members of the Association held a demonstration in Nicosia on Friday, claiming that their problems are not being solved. Denktas received members of the Association for an about an hour, pointing that contacts and talks are being held to solve the depositors' problems. Yet, he did not present any clear solutions to the financial troubles of the Turkish Cypriots, which have worsened after the Turkish financial crisis broke out, last year.
