The strike that broke out today in the gas stations across Cyprus has been lifted after the approval of the preliminary agreement achieved during the long meeting between Interior Minister, Eleni Mavrou and the gas station owners association.
The outcome of the meeting was put before the members of the association, who immediately accepted it and gave instructions to lift the strike.
During the meeting, the Minister informed the members about changes made to local plans, which now face the licensing of the gas stations more strictly and stressed that more measures will be included in the legislation that currently is for editorial control.
Mrs. Mavrou pledged that the Ministry will examine the licenses granted recently as well as the complaints to be given by the association and the appropriate action will be taken in case of irregularities.
According to the Minister, no illegal licenses have been identified at the current stage.
