A survey carried out by Evresis to 1049 internet users showed the full dominance of StockWatch in the sector of financial news via the internet.
According to the survey, StockWatch is the by far the first spontaneous choice of all those who said that they visit websites for this type of information.
On the question “which website do you visit for your information on economics”, 42.9% said StockWatch, followed by Laiki.com, which receives the biggest part of its content from StockWatch.
Around 14% answered foreign websites such as Bloomberg, Naftemporiki and Financial Times.
The percentage of 16.7% was shared by other websites with percentages lower than 3.8% such as Phileleftheros, Politis, Sigma Live, InBusiness, CNN and BBC.
The results are even more interesting if we take into account that unlike most of the aforementioned websites, StockWatch has an autonomous internet brand and is not connected with brands of bigger groups such as banks or media. In surveys via phone, the respondents possibly refer to the brands they know more and not those they visit more.
The publication of the survey coincides with the 1-year anniversary of StockWatch (November 1999).
Apart from StockWatch’s full dominance in the sector, Evresis survey showed how interested the users are in this type of information. According to it, 22.9% of the internet users replied that “they visit the internet to be informed on financial news”.
Of them, 48% is 24 years old and over.
The survey was carried out for StockWatch via phone to people of 13 years old and over. The statistic error is +/-3,1%.
