One step further took the Interior and Transport Ministries for the transfer of a number of governmental buildings to state fair, a decision that was taken few months ago.

Messrs. Neoclis Silikiotis and Nicos Nicolaides, the Ministers, ended up with a decision on the building that the services will be transferred.

Speaking after the conference, Mr. Silikiotis reminded that the transfer will concern the Transport Ministry, the Central and District Offices of the Land Registry, the Nicosia District Administration and the IRD Department. A public transportation statement will be inaugurated too.

According to Mr. Silikiotis, of the total 264 thousand sq. meters, 165 thousand sq. meters will be returned to the state. With the building ratio, the space that the specific building will be constructed will be doubled, while other projects will be planned in the future.

The procedure will then be undertaken by the Public Works Department, which will prepare the timetables.

The aim is the government to stop paying €20 million per annum for rents, while the new facilities will save time and money for the citizens.

“The project will be carried out gradually via architectural bids”, the Minister said.

“Via this project, the State Fair will keep 108 thousand sq. meters so as to be able to improve its facilities”, the Manager of the Authority concluded.
