The provision of scholarships totaling €20,000 aimed at financially supporting students of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is among the key elements of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between CUT and the Sievert Larsson Scholarship Foundation.
The scholarships, each worth €1,000, will be awarded to 20 undergraduate students at CUT who excel academically and meet specific socio-economic criteria. This significant initiative aims to assist students facing financial difficulties, enabling them to continue and complete their studies uninterrupted, thus achieving their dreams.
This collaboration strengthens the efforts of CUT and the Sievert Larsson Scholarship Foundation to promote equal educational opportunities and empower the student community, contributing to the creation of a society that supports young people and values education. The signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Cooperation took place on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the University's Rectorate. The memorandum was signed by CUT’s Rector, Professor Panayiotis Zaphiris, and the Foundation’s General Manager, Mr. Christos Papoutsas.
Professor Zaphiris expressed his gratitude to the Sievert Larsson Foundation for its significant and generous contribution to the university’s student community. He noted, “Our University believes in and works towards promoting equal opportunities for everyone and is committed to supporting our students in overcoming any obstacles during their studies. The support provided by the Sievert Larsson Foundation is invaluable and strengthens our mission to create a more inclusive and supportive student environment.”
Mr. Christos Papoutsas stated,“We envision a world where every young person with drive and talent can pursue their education, regardless of financial constraints. These scholarships represent an investment in Cyprus future, embodied by today’s young people, offering them the support they need to achieve their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Swedish entrepreneur and philanthropist Sievert Larsson established the eponymous foundation to provide equal educational opportunities to young people who aspire to academic advancement but face financial challenges.
