President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides stressed on Thursday the importance that the government attaches to foreign investors active in the country.
The President, who chaired a round table discussion with more than 20 foreign investors, said that he considers them as partners in the effort to strengthen Cyprus' role as an international business centre. The discussion was organised by the government and Invest Cyprus.
On behalf of the government, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance and the Deputy Minister of Shipping, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, the Government Spokesperson and the Secretary of the Council of Ministers.
According to a press release by the Presidency, the event was attended by over 20 foreign investors and foreign companies that made direct investments or moved their headquarters to Cyprus, covering a wide range of key sectors of the economy, including technology (ICT), financial services, real estate/construction, services, education, shipping and retail and wholesale trade.
During the discussion, the President stressed the importance that the government attaches to investors that have their activities in Cyprus saying that he considers them as partners in the effort to strengthen the role of Cyprus as an international business centre.
The investors informed the government about the obstacles and challenges they face and made recommendations on how to improve the investment and business environment of Cyprus.
President Christodoulides said that in the coming months a new discussion will be organised, during which the government will inform the investors about the actions that have been taken.
