Revenue from tourism reached €418 million in the first four months of 2023, marking an increase of 30% compared with the respective period of last year and 11.30% compared with the corresponding period of 2019, a record-year for Cyprus’ tourism.
According to the results of the Passenger Survey carried out by the Statistical Service (Cystat) revenue from tourism in April amounted to €217.6 up by 17.6% compared with April 2022, while compared with April of 2019 revenue were up by 16.6%.
The average expenditure per person was €634,89 in April 2023 compared to €639,65 in April 2022, recording a decrease of 0,7%, Cystat added.
Tourists from Israel, which was the second largest market with 9.9% of tourist arrivals in April, showed the highest expenditure per day with €120.23 on average, followed by tourist from the the United Kingdom (the largest tourist market with 36,3% of the total tourists in April 2023) who spent on average €79,51 per day.
Tourists from Poland (the third largest market with 6,7%), spent on average €77,67 per day, Cystat said.
