The House of Parliament unanimously rejected the referral of the law which suspends disposals of trapped property owners until the end of the year.
At the same time, a text which suspends foreclosures for this category of homeowners until September 4 was approved by majority and on September 3 the plenary will reconvene to discuss the bill for the protection of trapped properties.
19 parliament members of AKEL and the European Party voted against the formed text of referral while other parties voted in favor.
Earlier, the parliament rejected the referral of the President of the Republic which was a product of a law proposal by DISY.
The law establishes a deadline within which the planning authority will have to express its views in the case of an application submitted to get its preliminary opinion with respect to the intended property development and in addition, the import of a provision to the Basic Law, according to which views will be binding for one year for the decision of the authority, in relation to the planning application that will be submitted at a later stage.
Ecologists MP George Perdikis and Famagusta MP Zacharias Koulias voted in favor of the referral while it was rejected by 39 MPs from all parties.
