Gazprombank, the third largest bank in Russia, recently launched its Financial Services in the Republic of Cyprus. Gazprombank organized a charity dinner at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, 1 July, with the support of PwC.

The charity event that was under the auspices of the President of the Cyprus Republic attracted many distinguished guests from the business and political environment. Gazprombank organized this event to mark its launch in Cyprus and on this occasion donated a considerable sum of 40,000 euros to the Cyprus Autistic Association, an Association that was founded in 1990 with the aim of protecting and defending the rights of people with autism. It is a member of Autism Europe and the World Autism Organisation.

The event included a concert by 30 artists of one of the best Russian choirs, that of the “Candlemas Monastery” of the Russian Orthodox Church who had come especially from Russia for the occasion and was followed by dinner.

The President of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias, in his address, noted the need to attract more foreign investors to our country and stressed out that international companies such as Gazprombank can really make a difference in our country.

Mr Andrey Akimov, Chairman of Gazprombank said: “In less than a month, on 31 July, Gazprombank will mark its 20th anniversary. We are particularly pleased by the fact that this year the Bank’s affiliated company will begin to operate in the Republic of Cyprus. Due to long-standing traditions the Republic of Cyprus is a key link for most Russian financial institutions and companies which offers access to the global capital markets. I am glad that Gazprombank keeps on its international development by setting up a 100 per cent owned affiliated investment company, GPB Financial Services Ltd, in the Republic of Cyprus”.

Mr. Phidias Pilides, Chief Executive Officer of PwC noted: “We are proud to be connected with such prestigious, modern organizations which have set high standards for community support. Gazprombank is an organization whose business development gives strength to the communities where it operates and its presence is catalytic to their economies”.
