Cyprus and Syria signed a protocol of cooperation in the sectors of economy, trading, industry, tourism, customs, taxation, banks, merchant marine, air transport and road transport.
The Protocol was signed between the Finance Minister, Michalis Sarris, who headed the Cypriot delegation of the 5th Synod of the Cypro-Syrian Committee for Economic, Scientific, Technological and Industrial Cooperation, and his Syrian counterpart, Amer Husni Lutfi, who led the Syrian delegation.
According to an official announcement, the two parties reviewed their cooperation is several sectors so far and examined ways to promote and strengthen the existing bonds of friendship between the Republic of Cyprus and the Syrian Arabian Republic.
Within the framework of his visit, the Finance Minister had contacts with the Finance and Tourist Ministers and the Syrian Central Bank Governor and signed an Agreement for the Promotion and Protection of Investments and a Protocol of Cooperation in the sector of Tourism, which will be the base for a further strengthening in the relations between the two countries.
