PRIO Annual Conference on hydrocarbons in Eastern Mediterranean

Hydrocarbon reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean were the focus of the 2013 Annual Conference of the PRIO Cyprus Center (Peace Research Institute Oslo) that took place Thursday in Nicosia.
The conference focused on the significant geostrategic, economic, and political implications of hydrocarbon development in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The emphasis was on countries with proven or potential oil and gas reserves, Israel, Cyprus, Lebanon Egypt, and their neighbors, Greece and Turkey, as well as countries with strong strategic interests in the region (USA, Russia). The conference was addressed by Ambassador of Norway in Greece and Cyprus Sjur Larsen and Ambassador of Germany in Cyprus Gabriela Guellil.
