Major issue of today’s financial press is the retrospective development of the CSE general index within the last three years.

The “Economy” inset of newspaper “Phileleftheros” under the title “The market of 2002 recorded losses of 15.9%” deals with the negative development of the CSE index since it climbed to its highest levels - at 849.30 points - until the end of 2001. As far as individual sectors are concerned, not all sectors have reported a positive development. Specifically, the tourist sector is CSE’s leading gainer, which as at Friday, November 15 has soared 39.3%. The other leading CSE gainers are construction and industrial having recorded gains of 30.9% and 22.8% respectively.

On the contrary, the insurance sector has been the major decliner of the year, falling by 51%, while IT sector slumped 50.6%. Similarly, the financial companies have reported losses of 7.7%, while banks were down 13%.

The newspaper “Simerini” highlights that Hellas Sat and Electricity Authority of Cyprus are to meet today to discuss whether EAC is to participate in the consortium. According to the report, the discussion will mostly focus on the share capital of Hellas Sat, the EAC participation in the consortium, as well as Company’s business plan and balance sheets.

The newspaper “Alithia” does not contain a financial inset today.
