Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, departs on Thursday for Granada where he will attend on the same day the 3rd Meeting of the European Political Community and on Friday the informal meeting of EU heads of state or government.
According to a press release issued by the Presidency on October 5, President Christodoulides will participate in a discussion, in the framework of the Meeting of the European Political Community on multilateralism and security that will discuss issues regarding the respect of the UN Charter and the promotion of regional cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean as a model for multilateral cooperation.
Greece, Switzerland, Finland, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Ireland are expected to participate, among other countries, in this discussion.
In the framework of the Meeting, President Christodoulides will visit the Alhambra Palace, where he will be welcomed by King Felipe and his spouse and he will attend a dinner hosted by he King in the honour of the heads of state or government participating in the Meeting, the press release reads.
On October 6, the President will take part in an informal European Council that will also take place in Granada.
According to the Presidency press release among the issues to be discussed are the 2024-2029 Strategic Agenda which refers, among other things, to issues related to EU enlargement as well as the migration issue and other current affairs.
In the framework of the discussion on current affairs, states participating in the MED9 group will present, as was agreed during their recent Summit in Malta, a letter to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in which they ask for further aid and financial resources for the countries that face more acutely the repercussions of climate change and natural disasters.
President Christodoulides will be escorted by Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the Director of his Diplomatic Office, Marilena Raouna and other officers.
