The President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides is travelling to Brussels tomorrow, Wednesday, where he will participate in the European Council, to be held on 1 February.
According to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, President Christodoulides will attend in the afternoon of January 31 an event organised by the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, in memory of Jacques Delors, while in the evening he is expected to attend a dinner hosted by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in honour of the leaders.
It is added that the following morning, the President of the Republic will attend the European People's Party meeting, followed by the European Council Summit, which will focus on the revision of the Multiannual Financial Framework, the situation in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
It is also noted that President Christodoulides will address the Summit, where he will refer, inter alia, to the critical situation in the Middle East and the need for the EU to play an active role in ending the war and addressing its consequences.
The President of the Republic, who will be accompanied by Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou, the Director of the President's Press Office Victor Papadopoulos and other officials, will return to Cyprus late in the evening of 1 February, the statement concludes.
