Our aim is to protect those who are really in need as well as the credibility of the Cypriot economy, President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides said Monday evening.
Invited by journalists regarding the meeting he held earlier on Monday with MPs of the co-ruling parties on the issue of foreclosures and whether he has convinced them, he said that "the meeting was not to convince nor to be convinced".
He noted that there was a debate and that he presented his arguments and comprehensive proposals from the part of the executive power.
The President noted that the aim is to protect those who are really in need, but at the same time to protect the credibility of the Cypriot economy. "You understand the importance and priority, I am sure that everyone understands it. The discussion took place in this context and it continues", he said.
