The police carried out 2,035 checks in the past 24 hours, for the implementation of the measures against further spread of COVID-19. A total of 24 fines were handed out.
Specifically, 15 individuals and 9 owners or managers of businesses were booked, with fines amounting up to €8.000.
There were 740 checks in Nicosia, where 6 individuals and 7 businesses were fined. In Limassol, 1 business was booked, after 185 checks. In Larnaca, there were 327 checks and 1 individual and 1 business were fined. A total of 112 checks were carried out in Paphos, where 1 individual was fined, 381 checks in Ammochostos, where 7 individuals were fined, and 154 checks in Morfou area, without any fines. After 22 checks by the Port and Marine police and 115 checks by the Traffic Department, no fines were issued.
In Nicosia, 4 business owners were fined with €500 each, because they did not have a safe pass, 1 restaurant was fined with the amount of €1,500 because a member of the staff did not have a safe pass and another business owner was fined €750, because there was no safe pass check at the entrance of the shop.
In Limassol, an electrical appliances shop was fined €8,000, because there was no safe pass check at the entrance, whereas in Larnaca, a coffee shop owner was fined €750, for allowing entrance to a customer without a safe pass.
