Cyprus Police booked 13 individuals and 6 shop owners for violating protective measures aiming to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A police spokesperson told CNA that in the last 24 hours, until 6:00 am local time on Tuesday, the Force carried out a total of 1,600 checks throughout the government-controlled areas.
In Nicosia, the Police carried out 497 checks and booked 2 individuals and 2 shop owners, in Limassol 170 checks were carried out with 1 individual and 2 shop owners booked, in Larnaca 2 shop owners and 1 individual were booked, following 424 checks, in Pafos 44 checks were carried out, without any reports, in Famagusta 4 individuals were booked after 292 checks, while in the Morfou region there were no reports after 136 checks.
No reports were issued following 117 checks by the Traffic Departments and 10 checks by the Port and Marine Police. In the context of checks at the airports, 4 individuals were reported in the Pafos Airport and 1 in the Larnaca Airport.
In Nicosia, a shop owner was fined €1,000 for not having a valid safe pass, and another shop owner was fined €750 for not performing safe pass checks at the entrance. In Limassol, a shop owner was fined €1,500 for not performing safe pass checks, and another was fined €1,500 because there was an employee working without a protective mask in the shop. In Larnaca, a shop owner was fined €750, because an employee did not have a protective mask on, and another was fined €500 because the owner did not hat his mask on.
