The owners – members of the Pancyprian Association of Pleasure Crafts Owners went on an indefinite strike at 5.30 today, claiming a “fair satisfaction’ of their requests.

According to CNA, the members of the Association anchored 25 vessels off the Larnaca port, the fuel and gas pipes as well as EAC’s crude pipes.

Chairman of the Association, Marcos Alexandrou stated that the Transport Ministry and the Ports’ Authority “turn a deaf ear to the fair satisfaction of their requests”, such as the funding of the vessel owners by the EU funds “for the high expenses that they were burdened for their bread-winning job”.

“We demand equal treatment by the Transport Ministry and the Ports’ Authority. We requested by the CTO to be offered a lower duty in the marina”, he added.

Besides, the spokesman of the Port Police, Haris Christodoulou stated that the Port Police is aware of the strike and there is no activity in the Larnaca port so far.
