PEO has requested by the government on Tuesday not to pass-through the consumer tax on heating oil to other oil products.
In its announcement, PEO noted that the government’s intention to aid a certain category of citizens should not entail the imposition of additional tax to consumers. “It is necessary to reduce the consumer tax on heating oil to make prices reasonable and suitable to the lower classes”, the announcement reported. It is noted that the Finance Ministry is considering reducing the consumer tax on heating oil and increasing the price of oil.
PEO has also requested to take the proper measures for the high price of liquid gas: “The Ministry must review the repercussions from the price hike in liquid gas, which has reached £4.50 per cylinder”.
“The government must realize that the heating oil is a primary necessity and not a luxury article”, the announcement concluded.
