The amount of €2 bn is owed in taxes by physical and legal persons according to the 2014 fiscal report which was discussed today at the parliament's budgetary control committee.

According to the report citizens owe for VAT €436 mn and an additional €1,2 bn in other taxes.

Members of the committee requested from the ministry of finance to provide the parliament with a list of the 100 largest tax debtors either physical or legal persons.

They also requested lists of all sponsorships that were granted by each ministry to private bodies and individuals.

The discussion took place in light of today's developments regarding the Lagarde list which has been eventually secured by the government and is under examination by tax authorities.

There is speculation that the list contains names of individuals whose deposits are not justified by their tax returns.

In the context of the discussion it was mentioned that legislation concerning the accounting and fiscal management and fiscal control of the state which provides for the disclosure of data by the auditor general, will be shortly implemented.

Specifically, there will be disclosures on 2014 data regarding the write off of non-collectible state money of more than €1000 as well as debtors to the state whose debts are pending for more than 12 months.
