DIKO Vice President, Nicolas Papadopoulos replied to the criticisms of Interior Minister against the House of Representatives because it did not accept the government’s request to increase the number of public employees by 13 persons since it did not approve the appointment of 13 new spokespersons for European Presidency purposes.

In his announcement, Mr. Papadopoulos said that “the Finance Ministry must explain why the government can’t find 13 qualified persons among 71,000 civil servants to act as spokespersons during the EU Presidency”.

“He must also explain why we need 13 new spokespersons, who will be recruited on short and irregular procedures at the same time that we already have 7 recruited spokespersons in 7 of the 11 Ministries”, he said.

“If they are not qualified to perform those tasks, why they were employed by the state?, he wondered.

“However, it is surprising that the Finance Minister found no words to say that the development expenditure will be cut by 19% in 2012 since we have been led to bankruptcy by AKEL but he is in a rage for not being able to appoint on short and irregular procedures 13 persons”, he concluded.
