Former Central Bank Governor, Athanasios Orphanides returns to the MIT to teach macroeconomics, central banking and the euro area crisis.
According to Financial Times, he will be teaching at the Sloan School of Management.
Mr. Orphanides received his Ph.D. from MIT in 1990 and worked at the Fed until 2007 when he was appointed in the Central Bank of Cyprus.
Former governor told the FT that the lessons will give him the opportunity to monitor developments in the eurozone.
Previously, he hard worked as adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins and Georgetown.
Mr. Orphanides had clashed with the President of the Republic, who decided not to reappoint him.
Before withdrawing, he blamed the President for the “haircut” of the Greek bonds decided by the European leaders in October.
A recent “Phileleftheros” poll showed that 84% of the respondents considered Mr. Orphanides responsible for the banking problems.
