Ocean-going ships in Cypriot registry rise by 12%

The fleet of ocean-going vessels in the Cypriot registry has risen by 12% in the last year, Deputy Minister for Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis said during the Annual General Meeting of the Cyprus Ship Owners Association held in Athens.

A press release issued today by the Deputy Ministry said that Hadjimanolis carried out a visit to Athens on 18-20 September.

On September 19, Hadjimanolis attended the AGM of the Cyprus Ship Owners Association, presenting the Deputy Ministry’s action plan, while thanking the Association for the long-standing support to the Cypriot shipping registry.

In this context, Hadjimanolis said the number of ocean-going vessels in the Cypriot registry has risen by 12% in the last year. In the context of the AGM, Hadjimanolis attended a dinner in the presence of Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides with the attendance of Cypriot and Greek shipowners.

While in Athens, Hadjimanolis held meetings with shipping companies and visited the headquarters of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association where she had the opportunity to discuss with members of the Association’s Board potential cooperation on issues pertaining to marine environment protection and maritime training.

The Cypriot Deputy Minister also met with the Hellenic Shipping Chamber George Pateras, discussing the prospects of global shipping and they agreed to assuming joint actions mainly on maritime education.
