Noble: Israeli LNG to Cyprus

Director of Noble Energy for the development of LNG Gerald Peereboom proposed to LNG 17 conference in Houston on Tuesday that natural gas from the giant 18 trillion cubic feet Leviathan from Israel could be run toCyprus for liquefaction.

Mr. Peereboom said the choice was just one of the many to manage the increasing size of the gas reserves in the eastern Mediterranean.

He said that discoveries amount to 30 trillion cubic feet. The discovery made in Cyprus in December 2011 brought a mixed average estimate of 7 trillion cubic meters.

Preliminary engineering studies are underway from French contractor Technip and similar processes occur in Cyprus.

For Leviathan, the current planning provides initially for the set up of a unit of production, storage and diversion of gas to Israel through a pipeline.

The choice of land in Israel for liquefaction is limited, however, as its largest part is intended for tourism, according to Mr. Peereboom.

Mr. Peereboom said that natural gas from Israel and Cyprus will become an important source for Asia or Europe.

"Liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be very competitive with alternative sources and FLNG« equally competitive, "he said.

"I'm sure there will be more gas quantities in this productive area," he said.
