“There is no reason for further deliberations with the Cyprus Airways trade unions that rejected the action plan”, Labour Minister, Christos Taliadoros said on Friday. In his statements after the end of his meeting with the Equality of Sexes Committee, Mr. Taliadoros said that if a trade union requests the intervention of a Labour Ministry department, the Ministry will examine its request on the basis of the procedural rules that regulate the labour relations. “I have submitted a conciliatory proposal, which has been accepted by trade unions that represent the majority of the employees in the national carrier, but I’m not qualified to comment on the latest development”, he stated. On the question whether he will adopt the proposal, Mr. Taliadoros said that Cyprus Airways is managed by the Board of Directors and not by the government.
