Restoring citizens' sense of security is a top priority for the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Police new Minister of Justice and Public Order Marios Hartsiotis pointed out on Monday.

In statements to press at the Police Headquarters where he had a first meeting with the Chief of Police and the rest of the Police leadership, Hartsiotis said that he has been appointed to serve in a very sensitive post, explaining that the Ministry of Justice plays an institutional and at the same time a supervisory role.

"This role is difficult, it is a role that requires a lot of things," he noted.

He thanked the leadership of the Police for today's presentation, which he described as useful and which, as he pointed out, will be very useful for the future.

Hartsiotis added that he presented the goals and aspirations that he would like to be implemented with the help and cooperation of the Police, which in essence are, as he explained, the commitments and declarations of the President of the Republic during his election campaign.

"The priorities exist, I have already referred to them in my first statements, and I will seek to implement them immediately," he said.

Asked if the citizens' sense of security can be restored, Hartsiotis said that it is indeed the first priority to restore and consolidate the sense of security of all citizens and assured that he will do everything in his power to achieve this goal.
