The CSE general index recorded new gains of 0.9% to 109.1 points on Wednesday, despite pressures by the Bank of Cyprus, which lost 0.8% or 2 cents to £2.64 attracting 38.9% of the daily volume. On the other hand, the Popular Bank and the Hellenic Bank soared 2.7% and 3.7% to £1.88 and 56 cents, absorbing 35% and 4.1% of the turnover respectively.
K&G with 3.9% of the volume climbed 30.6% to 9.4 cents.
FTSE and the new joint index added 0.3% to 578.6 and 1708.6 points respectively.
Overall, 39 securities went up, 30 fell and 16 remained unchanged.
