After amending a law to make it easier for Greeks abroad to vote by mail, the ruling New Democracy garnered the lion’s share of votes by mail – 40.17 percent – in which 36,645 of those eligible participated in balloting for the European Parliament.
The Conservatives got only 28.31 percent overall, falling below Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ aim of 33 percent, and far lower than the almost 41 percent he won in winning the 2023 national elections.
