In 2023, 68.8% of the population of Cyprus owned their home, a bit lower than the EU average (69.2%), according to data released by Eurostat, the statistical service of the European Union.

During the same period, 31.2% of Cypriots lived in rented housing, a little over the EU average (30.8%).

The highest shares of ownership among member states in 2023 were recorded in Romania (95.6%), Slovakia (93.6%) and Croatia (91.2%).

The lowest shares were recorded in Germany (47.6%), Austria (54.3 %) and Denmark (60.0%).
