More flights and passengers at illegal airport

The number of flights and passengers that used the illegal airport of Tymbou recorded an increase in July, August and September 2007.
According to figures released by the so-called civil aviation office of the T/C areas, the total number of passengers that used the illegal airport in July, August and September stood at 554,799 compared to 493,436 in the corresponding period of 2006. Similarly, the total number of flights to and from the illegal airport stood at 4,339 against 4,132 in 2006.
The air companies that flew to and from the illegal airport are “Cyprus Turkish Airlines”, “Turkish Airlines”, “Atlasjet” (private) and “Pegasus” (private). Their destinations are Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Izmir, Trebizon, Gaziantep and Dalaman. They also fly to three destinations in Britain via Turkey; the airports of Heathrow, Stansted and Manchester.
