Earlier this week, a meeting took place between the Minister of Trade, Industry & Tourism Nicos Rolandis, the General Manager as well as other officials of the Ministry, during which progress was examined on alignment matters with the EU. It was established that considerable progress has been made on chapters relevant to the Ministry of the acquis communautaire and legislative work is planned to be completed by June of this year, apart from the chapters for which special transitional arrangements have been made, such as the Cooperatives.

Mr. Rolandis also met with the Head of Cyprus Negotiating Team Georgos Vassiliou and views were exchanged on planning the work to be completed until June. The Ministry of Trade, Industry & Tourism has undertaken the alignment of a significant part of the acquis on issues pertaining to Energy, Company Legislation, Foreign Trade Relations, Free Movement of Goods and Consumer Protection.
